Successful fund raising requires the adoption of a long term marketing strategy envisaging successive funds, and executed over many months by a confident, well prepared management team involving a collective effort by all key members. Depending on circumstances and requirements of the client, Lancea can provide a wide spectrum of fund raising services ranging from full "hands-on" services (described under the headings below) to more limited marketing initiatives or pure financial advisory work. In all cases, Lancea's prime objective is to maximise the client's chances of success in attracting a deep pool of long term, diversified investors, encompassing institutions and family offices.
Advisory
Lancea provides strategic advice that encompasses the organisational, structural and performance characteristics required by institutional and other investors, as well as an objective perspective on the current fundraising environment.
Pre-Marketing
The pre-marketing process commences with a comprehensive due diligence exercise undertaken by Lancea. This is intended to fully endorse the investment strategy; analyse the competitive positioning of the fund; assess the strengths and weaknesses of the team and to identify the issues that would be of concern to institutional investors. In tandem with this exercise, Lancea will interact with selected investors to obtain initial feedback on an investment proposition.
Documentation
During the due diligence and pre-marketing process, Lancea assists in the preparation of the private placement memorandum, the road show presentation, due diligence books, and all other related marketing materials. The objective is to articulate the investment proposition in such a way that it is positively differentiated from competitors both in its own marketplace and in the funding market, and creating marketing materials that are institutionally robust. Lancea will also help the client on presentation techniques, an important aspect of marketing.
Marketing
To make fund raising as cost effective and efficient as possible, Lancea compiles a list of suitable potential investors and qualifies them by likelihood of investing through direct communication. On the back of an agreed timetable, Lancea then arranges meetings, where appropriate, providing clients with concise profiles on such investors prior to the initial presentation. After the meeting, Lancea will follow up the introduction by seeking accurate, candid feedback, resolving issues as they arise, maintaining the profile of the client at the investor level and facilitating additional communication between the client and the investor, thus guiding both parties during the due diligence and approval processes.
Closing and Investor Relations
If required, Lancea can assist in the negotiations of the constitutional documents, advise on terms and conditions, issues related to allocation, and help co-ordinate the closing process. Thereafter, Lancea is able to assist in investor relations during the lifetime of the fund, providing up to date market intelligence and advising the fund manager on issues as they arise, as well as preparing the ground for the next fund.
